It’s been quite the year of change for Thermeon and 2020 has started off with more exciting news. Recently, Thermeon made a significant addition to its team, as former customer Andy Pratley and car rental industry veteran, came on board as Corporate Account and Sales Director in the Asia-Pacific region.
As a former Thermeon client bringing decades of experience in the car rental industry, Andy understands the needs of car rental operators and just how valuable Thermeon products and services can be to a business’ success.
Andy is excited to bring his unique perspective to the team and connect with fellow car rental professionals. In speaking to Andy, here is what he is hoping to bring to the team and how he aims to serve both potential and existing Thermeon clients.
How did you get started in the car rental industry and what sorts of changes have you noticed in the industry over the years?
AP: I started really from a grass roots level. I really climbed the ladder. I’ve worked in the industry at every level, from counter sales then management and ownership, so I have a solid knowledge of all the touch points in the business.
There have been lots of changes, but I’d have to say technology and automation have been the main areas of change.
Being a former owner of a car rental business, what sort of obstacles would you typically face on a day to day basis?
AP: There are so many to name, but if I had to narrow it down to a few, I would say pressure on rates is a global issue. Cost of fleet, and supply versus demand also come to mind, and our goal at Thermeon is to address these ongoing concerns.
You were a Thermeon customer for quite a long time. How did Thermeon’s products and services help your business?
AP: They just simplified things so much. I just love the way the Thermeon system manages all aspects of the business, bringing controls and compliance through automation.
What made you choose CARS+ and why did you choose to keep the software to run your business for so long?
AP: Since I started using CARS+ some 20 years ago, I know the power and capabilities of the system. It delivers a seamless rental process from booking to rental return, reporting and controls to run the business. I just felt so comfortable using CARS+ and Thermeon always looked for ways to improve the software based on my needs, which made it very easy to stick with it.
As you make the transition from operations to solutions, what are you hoping to bring to Thermeon?
AP: Good question. I hope I can bring some valued experience from the other side of the table, core car rental knowledge and an understanding of what our customers need to run their businesses. I think it’s very comforting for customers to know that the person serving them truly knows what it’s like to be in their shoes.
With the industry going through many changes and adjustments, what sort of changes are you hoping to bring?
AP: I want to share my knowledge with our customers and hopefully give them some takeaways and tips that can help them adjust to an ever-changing market.
Is there something you would like to say to Thermeon’s clients?
AP: Embrace CARS+. It’s a powerful tool and has so much to offer. If you take the time to dig deep and keep mastering the software, you will be surprised what it can do. Carry on the learning curve and your business will benefit. I also must say I’m looking forward to meeting more of our clients in person at our upcoming events.
